Hi, I’m Luke. I assume most of you know me already but oh well :)
A while ago I started working on my first iPad app. I never really found a good tumblr app for my iPad, which is why I decided to start making my own free app. And now, almost a month later, it’s finally in the app store.
Pinterest is a social network, where you can pin and re-pin stuff you like. They have a really great category feature with a lot of different categories like geeky stuff, tech, design etc.
Today the app has been updated and it finally became a universal app. So now you can use Pinterest even from your iPad, which is great because of the big screen.
TumbleBoard logo evolution
For my TumbleBoard app, I wanted to create a very simple logo that would be easy to recognise, even when you put the app inside a folder. At first, I tried to use the same colors as with my app prototype. I also knew I wanted to put the reblog icon on the logo. So the first version of the logo was mainly blue/green with a reblog arrow inside it.
I watched the WWDC 2012 session on icon design, and I kinda started changing my mind about the logo. I wanted to make it look like something from the real world, a real world example. Two things that came to my mind when I was thinking about a board was a corkboard and a chalkboard. I tried the corkboard first, which only turned out crappy.
After that I tried the chalkboard. I liked it and the logo looks great on the retina iPad. I kept refining it, changing textures and colours. So the one you see on top is what I came up with so far. I might still do some minor changes, but this should be really close to the final logo.
There’s still no good Tumblr app for the iPad, so I’m currently working on my own Tumblr app. I made a first mockup this weekend to kind of get an idea what it will look like. I decided to use two columns of posts, because you get a lot of content on the screen but you still see every post and won’t be overwhelmed.
The design is kind of inspired by the Tumblr website with the same blue colors and gradients. But as I said, it’s only a preview so far, I did it completely in Photoshop.
Infinity Blade II is a highly popular game for iOS. You play the character Siris and you fight your way through a beautiful, dynamic world. You can customize your character, get new weapons and learn new skills. The whole game is packed with a great story, which guarantees to keep you glued to the display of your iPad for several hours.
You have always dreamed of flying - but your wings are tiny. Luckily the world is full of beautiful hills. Use the hills as jumps - slide down, flap your wings and fly! At least for a moment - until this annoying gravity brings you back down to earth. But the next hill is waiting for you already. Watch out for the night and fly as fast as you can.
